Summary: Performance anxiety occur if you think do not have the confidence on showing what you got!

Anxiety is a very common word, or shall I say mood. Who has not experienced felling worried taking an exam because you have had previous failing scores? Who has tried going to a date with someone you really like without feeling anxious because of anticipation? Anxiety is a simply a normal part of life. It also helps us cope in every stressful situation or events.

There are always reasons why we feel anxious. For example, a groom may feel anxious on their wedding day probably after seeing together the "Runaway Bride". Or, the bride feared that her groom might not show up on their wedding day and becomes a "Runaway Groom". Or, you are having a pool party with your officemates and you knew that water in the swimming pools have plenty of bacteria, and you are worried what people might think of you if you won't swim with them. They are just some situations wherein anxiety steps in.

See, anxiety can happen to anyone at some point of their lives. As for those people who fears the stage, or performing on the stage, it is called performance anxiety. Performance anxiety is caused by the ways you think and feel. Performance anxiety can be a deeply personal subject for musicians and many are reluctant to discuss all the possible remedies. Stage fright, fear of public speaking and performance anxiety is determined if you:

o Have an immediate surge of fear and anxiety if you learn you need to deliver any public speaking or performing
o Attempt to avoid giving presentations or performances if you can't get out of doing them
o Suffer from a lot of anticipatory anxiety thinking about your presentation or performance ahead of time
o Experience stage fright and feel very uncomfortable being "in the spotlight" when speaking or performing
o Worry about making yourself a laughing stock in front of other people, fearful that people may see how nervous you are?
o Feel a lot of inner turmoil or you have missed opportunities because of your fear of performing.

One of the ways to lessen the performance anxiety is to discover and change your thinking patterns, which puts too much pressure on you. There are four steps for managing performance anxiety, and these are:

Self-Assessment – is getting to know yourself better of as a person and performer.
o Identify problematic thinking, personal motives for thinking, and capabilities and limitations as a performer
o Ask yourself what is it that frightened you
o Do not confuse self-assessment with self-criticism

General Exposure and Preparation
o Look for opportunities for exposure from mild to moderate levels of stress but do not overwhelm your coping skills
o Practice performances, dress rehearsals, taping yourself and playing back to be able to prepare yourself for any performances
o Be thoroughly prepared always
o Do relaxation techniques for this help calm you.

During the performance
o try seeing the audience as allies supporting you to do well
o use anxiety to your advantage
o maintain normal routine during performance
o stay calm
o think performing as an opportunity for experience
o get out of yourself and into the audience
o enjoy the performance, rather than waste your time worrying

After the performance
o congratulate and reward yourself for making the big step in overcoming your anxiety performance

It is indeed true that anxiety is caused by the way we think and feel. By changing the patterns of the way we think and feel from negative to positive, definitely POSITIVE will be the result.

Unfortunately, Xanax is often abused and is considered a "street drug" as well. Patients who are discontinuing use of Xanax need to have their doses gradually reduced so as to avoid adverse affects.

Valium – With the generic name of Diazepam, Valium has been around for many years as a treatment for anxiety. It is also used to treat muscle spasms and seizures. It may also be used to prevent night terrors (bad dreams). The dosage depends on the reason it is being prescribed, and the patient needs to be monitored by a physician when on this medication. Caution is urged against adjusting the dose yourself, and when it is time to end this drug therapy the doctor needs to decrease the dosage gradually to prevent adverse side effects. Unfortunately, Valium can be habit forming and is often abused by people who believe they can take it just when they are feeling anxious. Self-medicating in this manner is very dangerous, and you must never take anyone else's medication as each medication affects people differently.

Regardless of the anxiety drug treatment you are taking, report any unusual side effects to your doctor immediately. Never increase or decrease the dosage on your own and do not stop taking the drug without your doctor's approval, as most drugs in this class need to be reduced gradually.

Let us try to examine.

When a person gets anxious or nervous in front of so many people (given that he has no experience yet with huge public gatherings), the sensation that he undergoes is normal. He may have faster beating of the heart and normal sweating. But, when he. already displays serious physical symptoms other than these and become overly reactive to social conditions, then he may already be having psychiatric illness in the form of anxiety disorder.

Anxiety disorder is a chronic condition characterized for recurrent intense feeling of fear, anxiousness and discomfort during social interactions. The most typical symptoms include trembling, nausea, sweating, hyperventilation, dizziness and a number of others that may be conceived as beyond normal. This disorder is often easy to detect since it displays symptoms that are rather different from those of other psychiatric conditions since anxiety attacks in this form are abrupt, disabling and consuming. Anxiety attacks in this case are typically more of the degenerative cycle since in each episode the physical condition is aggravated by the mental condition. The same is true the other way around.

Though the medical circles have definitive records of symptoms and causes for anxiety attacks, there are still some veils of mystery that permit them from discovering fully what lays behind anxiety disorder and each anxiety attacks. More possibly, the factor that triggers the onset of anxiety disorder is not caused by a stimulus rather a number of conditions that may lead to anxiety attacks.

Among the most common of which that may also be found in other sources are the following:

a) panic disorder, panic disorder with or without agoraphobia,

b) social phobia, specific forms of phobia

c) post-traumatic stress disorder

d) obsessive-compulsive disorder

e) adjustment disorder

f) separation disorder

g) anxiety disorder that is induced by a particular substance

Obviously enough, these details alone will tell us that anxiety attacks and the underlying causes are in themselves too complex to be analyzed in a single sitting. Say for example, panic disorder and agoraphobia are two different conditions by which the affected part is the psychological make-up and the behavioral state of the individual. Before we can arrive at anything that is applicable in the diagnosis, one has to dissect first what truly are the conditions that characterize both disorders. Then one has to unify all the details encountered to project a diagnosis. But that does not stop there. The doctor or the health care provider would still have to analyze other conditions that cover the same symptoms the anxiety attacks have.

You see, it is truly a painstaking process to detect what truly causes a psychiatric condition such as anxiety attacks. But this does not imply that there are no treatments (and even cures!) for the disorder. The point is, treatment may go well beyond into years before any significant results may be yielded. And before any treatment is made, one still has to look for the root causes of anxiety attacks.

Additionally, there may be some confusion along the way since both physical and psychological display of symptoms are hardy recognizable from that of the symptoms of other diseases. And so, the person affected must understand these facts. Believe me, understanding alone may help you lead to the proper detection of the causes and the treatment afterwards.

Summary: Anxiety disorder is capable of destroying your life if not treated immediately.

Have you ever felt anxious about something for any reason? Or, feeling anxious or worried in the times of stressful situations? It is ok to feel what you feel as long as you have rational reasons to validate your feelings. Anxiety is a normal response to any stressful event and it helps you deal with that situation. But, when anxiety becomes too much that it can affect your day to day activities and peace of mind, it becomes an anxiety disorder.

Anxiety disorder is excessive anxiety and worry about events or activities, which occurs most often than not in most days for at least six months. A person who has anxiety disorder finds it difficult to control the feelings of worry and fear. The anxiety, worry, or the physical symptoms of anxiety disorder can cause considerable suffering or harm on the important areas of daily life activities. Some of the common types of anxiety disorders include separation anxiety, social anxiety or phobia, selective mutism, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), posttraumatic stress disorder (PSTD), panic disorder, agoraphobia, generalized anxiety disorder, and specific phobia. Each of these anxiety disorders has different symptoms, but the entire symptoms revolve around excessive, unreasonable fear and dread.

Separation anxiety is defined as developmentally improper and excessive anxiety relating to separation from home or to someone you are so attached with. Social anxiety or phobia is generally understood as extreme fear in the face of social interaction. Selective mutism is the consistent failure to speak in specific social situations where you are expected to render speech. OCD is an illness wherein you have recurrent and unwanted urge to do something to relieve your discomfort. PST is an incapacitating condition that follows a terrifying event (persistent terrifying thoughts). Panic disorder is categorized as recurrent brief episodes of intense fear that are accompanied by many physical symptoms, like heart palpitations and dizziness, even without external threat. Agoraphobia is defined as an incapacitating fear of open spaces, resulting to avoidance of crowds, and open public places. General anxiety disorder is described by diffuse feelings of apprehensions with physiological symptoms. Specific phobia is a feeling of intense, irrational fears towards certain things, like closed-in places, heights, water, etc.

If you think you have an anxiety disorder, the first person you should see is your family doctor. A physician can determine whether the symptoms that bother you are due either to anxiety disorder or other medical condition, or both. If indeed you are diagnosed to have anxiety disorder, the next step you should do is definitely see a mental health professional whom you are comfortable talking with. Clearly, in order for you to be treated from this condition, you and your doctor should work together as a team and make a plan to cure you from anxiety disorder. Don't let this condition ruin your mood, activities, or your life in general. Get immediate treatment the soonest possible time once you think that you might have an anxiety disorder. The sooner you get the treatment, the sooner you feel better.

Lately, many controversies have arisen to disprove the medical worth of anxiety disorder medications. But if we are to believe them, we have to make initial and thorough analysis for ourselves. We all know for fact that before a controversy is given proper recognition, it must be supported with thorough research to pass as an objective claim. In this article, we will try to stay as focused with the controversies and claims that lie between proponents of anxiety disorder medications and those who are against them.

Usually, the most common question we get when one wants to undergo an anxiety disorder medication treatment are the side-effects. These are prevalent among online forums and during doctor visits. People act this way because they want to get around as much as possible with the possible side effects a medication may have. Yet, what we rarely recognize is that misunderstandings and misinformation typically result in this manner.

It must be understood that side effects are impermanent products and don't often give way to severe conditions. Also, that side effects vary from medication to medication and from person to person. So what is true to one is not generally true for everybody. The point is, before any one believes in the information gathered from patient online forums, they must seek initial guidance from medical authorities.

Another concern when it comes to anxiety disorder medications is the validity of their use. In the first place, not every patient of anxiety disorder needs to undergo anxiety disorder medication treatments. But why do doctors normally prescribe them?

The answer of anxiety disorder medications opponents may go like this- anxiety is neither a mental disorder nor sickness; it is more of a behavioral problem. Therefore, there are no medications to cure a condition categorized as a habit. But why doctors continue prescribing them is because they know no better alternatives and medications seem to be the best "quick fix". (This statement is based on an online resource).

The first half of the statement is true and can be verified by scientific analysis, the second half is more of the personal beliefs of those who seem to have lost their belief over the potency of anxiety disorder medications.

In truth, before any anxiety disorder medication is prescribed, one has to examine a variety of factors such as the severity of the condition, the manner by which our body responds to the medications and the underlying symptoms that go with the disorder. All psychiatrists, doctors, physicians and health care providers know these and they only prescribe according to what is observable. The issue of believing their analysis is another story.

To be fair, the patients are only prescribed with anxiety disorder medications based on the symptoms and the conditions that they present during clinical analysis. Other than that, extra treatment may be unnecessary and may even cause unhealthy effects to the patients. It must be understood therefore that while anxiety disorder medications may be very helpful for the majority of people, they were not designed to be the ultimate cure. It will not make you go to the place where you want to be, it is not the end solution.

So it may be partly true that anxiety disorder medications may work for some and may not for others. In the end, the truth that each patient respond differently to treatment must be delivered into the picture before any hasty judgements are made.

There are a number of different ways to deal with anxiety. Beyond counseling and various medications, there are numerous relaxation techniques and herbal remedies that can be utilized by individuals to help alleviate the symptoms of anxiety. Further, some vitamin supplements, changes in dietary habits, an increase in physical activity, and even new hobbies can help reduce the level of stress that anxiety often produces.

The herbal remedies that help individuals reduce anxiety and stress include Chamomile, Kava-Kava, passion flower, skullcap, Siberian ginseng, and Valerian root. Chamomile can be brewed as a tea, or the herb can be added to bathwater as a relaxant. Likewise, jasmine is an excellent relaxant, often commonly used in bathwater. Finally, no matter what herb one decides on using, they should speak with a professional herbalist or doctor before using the product.

Due to the fact stress adversely affects the immune system, it's important that those individuals experiencing anxiety take vitamin supplements. Vitamin supplements, taken on a daily basis, will help ensure that a person's immune system remains at peak function. Likewise, a change in dietary habits can actually reduce the onset of anxiety: by eliminating products that contain caffeine or refined sugar, individuals can successfully minimize the occurrence of anxiety. Along the same lines, adding moderate exercise to one's regular practices will improve body performance and will also give the individual a physical outlet for eliminating stress. Finally, some exercises like yoga or martial arts offers individuals the dual benefits of better health psychologically as well as physically.

Summary: Test anxiety is common to students and can be a motivator to study harder or can be a big problem if starting to affect performance.

In the life of every student, exams are usually one of the stressful events to go through. Most often than not, we feel anxious every time examination periods are about to come. It is normal for most students to experience some levels of anxiety during exams. It common to all the students and I am sure that we had our own share of anxiety during exams, hadn't we? Anxiety is a human's natural response to a stressful situation. The test anxiety can become a powerful motivator; it can make you study harder to be able to excel. But, if this test anxiety starts to affect exam performance it has become a problem.

The symptoms of test anxiety are but not limited to:
o Physical – headaches, nausea, or diarrhea, extreme body temperature changes, excessive sweating, shortness of breath, light-headedness or fainting, rapid heart beat, and/dry mouth, tense muscle
o Emotional – excessive feelings of disappointment, anger, depression, uncomfortable crying or laughing
o Behavioral – fidgeting, pacing, substance abuse, avoidance
o Cognitive – racing thoughts, going blank, difficulty concentrating, negative self-talk, feelings of dread, comparing yourself to others, difficulty organizing your thoughts.

The probable causes of test anxiety can be lack of preparation indicated by cramming the night before the exam, poor time management, failure to organize text information, poor study habits; or, worrying about previous performance on exams, how other students are doing, the negative consequences of failure.

For the better part, there are several techniques that can be done to control your test anxiety, and these are:
o Preparation – study and know the material well enough so that you can still recall even if you are under stress, develop good study habits, get enough rest, exercise, attend classes regularly and complete all assignments, participate in all practical tests
o Keep a positive attitude – develop logical expectations, do not allow your grades affect the outcome of your exams, avoid negative and devastating results, set up a system of reward to yourself for good results, encourage yourself.
o Relaxation techniques – proper breathing exercises, imagery and visualization, muscle relaxation techniques can help increase your concentration, don't come too early for you might get distracted, and make sure you have everything you need

I n times when you start feeling overwhelmed or when the fear comes, just pause and do the proper breathing techniques as they can help you calm down, and then keep focus on the present. Don't try to eliminate your fear totally, just keep it manageable. Convince yourself that you can shake away your fear. Divert your attention or thoughts from fear, or find something to keep fear out of your mind.

There are several factors that can affect the efficiency of you study time. Make sure that your place of study is quiet, no interruptions, comfortable, clean, well facilitated, and with comfortable temperature. A study without distractions can make you concentrate more; therefore, test anxiety can be lessen if not eliminated.

Test anxiety can be successfully managed depending on the level of your willingness. If your mindset is having control over your anxiety, your chances to success is great!

Help for anxiety disorder patients abound. The nearest psychiatric clinic may be the most convenient place to seek yet the Internet can also be the best medium to avail the help you need.

Anxiety disorder is the condition by which a person develops extreme fear over things, events and conditions that generally cause him to panic or to undergo a series of symptoms that are characterized with anxiety disorder. These symptoms allow the alteration of mood and psychological well being of the person affected. Usually, anxiety disorders are seen more prevalently among women of adult age. However, there are specific disorders that are seen more seriously among children such as that of the separation anxiety disorder.

If not treated, anxiety disorder may aggravate and advance to more serious forms that will require longer periods of treatment through medications and psychological therapies. However, as every person develop specific conditions, he will require a specific form of treatment to address the disorder properly. For this, it is best to create a customized type of procedure that will dig deep into the condition of the person and will better explore the realms of his disorder.

Another hurdle in treatment procedure is the response of the person to the treatment, more specifically to psychological therapies. Often, their personal preferences and beliefs may affect the over-all result of the procedure they are subjected to.

Samples of psychiatric procedure may be exposed by means of on-line videos on anxiety disorder. The main aim of those is to provide an idea for the patients of the process prior to the treatment proper. The idea here is to form concepts inside the patients mind of the process for which he will likely endure in the future, at his own pace at his own time. If so, then it may be concluded that exposing patients to on-line videos of anxiety disorder will help condition him on how to react during the process. It can also create for him impressions of the end-result.

However, aside from what was already specified above, on-line videos of anxiety disorder are great ways to help patients access information that may have been unachievable in the past years. Most patients with anxiety disorder have difficulties coping with the society or even to intermingle with other people. Thus leading them to self- isolation. This reaction is more prevalent among individuals with social phobia and agoraphobia.

These people are typically led to secluding themselves in their own rooms, away from the people. This is due to the very nature of their disorders. Agoraphobia in itself is fear of being in places where security is not predominant and embarrassing situations are likely to occur. Social phobia on the other hand is heightened fear over peoples' perception and judgement to the affected person. Therefore, persons with these conditions are doomed to remain in their comfort zones for as long as they are overwhelmed with their disease.

With such conditions, they refuse to seek help outside their homes. If there were only means by which a person with anxiety disorder never has to leave the comforts of his room, then that would be a well-accepted medium. And that what exactly on-line videos on anxiety disorder have provided. A help within the home.

Among the most prevalent emotional and psychiatric disorders in America are anxiety and panic attacks and a number of anxiety disorders. Display of symptoms covers simpler conditions like Adjustment Disorder and the more delibitating Post Traumatic Disorder and Anxiety Disorders.

If the recent data will be used to evaluate the prevalence of such disorders, we may arrive to the conclusion that around 25% of all adults having such disorders will have to endure them for their lifetime. On the other end of the scale, the prevalence among children are still not equated but is perceived to be significantly under-diagnosed and unreported.

Although the conditions that arise among children are common, they are often misjudged and overlooked. But the growing consensus among experts being thought of today is that the majority (if not all) of the disorders felt during adulthood must have first triggered during childhood. Or must have first developed, felt and went untreated during earlier years.

These childhood manifestations of the disorders and symptoms might have been so subtle that they gave too little hints that something is going wrong in the child. However, other sources assert that the older people surrounding the child must have ignored the early manifestations of symptoms. In time, the childhood symptoms developed into adult forms which caused the person to suffer.

Symptoms of anxiety disorder in children

Anxiety disorder as felt by children may display almost similar symptoms like that with older patients. But as expected, they may arise during situations that are most likely inapplicable for adult sufferers. Often, they are observed in school and are confused as tantrums and the likes. Anxiety as felt among children is usually a subjective sensation of apprehension, distress, worry and fear. The vital point in diagnosing anxiety disorder in children is that the symptoms must be recognized as abnormal manifestations. Defined boundaries must be set in order to do this.

Children anxiety disorder has two components: the out of normal conception of emotions like extreme anxiety and fear and the physical symptoms such as sweating, headache and nausea.

On more severe cases, anxiety in children can significantly deprive them of proper concentration and learning and will lessen their ability to exercise decision making and their normal perception of the environment. Children anxiety disorder may also manifest by means of elevated heart rate and blood pressure, and a multitude of physiological ailments such as frequent headache, diarrhea, shortness of breath, weakness, tingling and a number of others.

Though children and adult sufferers may be suffering conditions of similar descriptions, it must still be understood that their age, understanding and their ability to cope with their disorder must be taken into consideration. Children display anxiety on varying levels. Diagnosing the abnormal level of anxiety depends partly on the effects of the condition towards the child's functioning. Therefore, the evaluation of the degree of abnormality must be based on the child's developmental level and his age.

With that in mind, we can categorize children anxiety disorder into following (as listed below). Though some of the disorders cover symptoms that are more advanced for children, they still remain treatable. And once treated, the likelihood that they will reoccur in later life will dramatically diminish.

* Generalized Anxiety Disorder

* Panic Disorder

* Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

* Posttraumatic Stress Disorder

* Acute Stress Disorder

* Social Phobia

* Specific Phobia

* Adjustment Disorder with Anxiety

* Anxiety Disorder as a result of a general medical condition

* Drug-Induced Anxiety Disorder

Summary: Black Eyed Peas anxiety song expresses a very clear message of not letting anxiety in control of your life.

Are you familiar with Black Eyed Peas anxiety song? Yes, the Black Eyed Peas hip-hop group who is responsible for the major hit of the song "Where is the love"? Black Eyed Peas anxiety is one of the tracks in the Elephunk album of which "where is the love" is also included.

To know more about the group, let us know first each of the members of their members. Black Eyed Peas are an American hip-hop and pop group of Los Angeles, California, who have gained international pop success because of their songs, which made it to the top. The group is currently composed of Wil.i.am (William Adams), Apl.de.ap (Allen Pineda), Taboo (Jaime Gomez), and Fergie (Stacy Ferguson). They're the artist who did the "Where is the love?", which made them very well-know these days.

The Black Eyed Peas was formed back in 1989 when Wil.i.am and Apl.de.ap met and began rapping and performing together around Los Angeles. The duo signed to Ruthless Records (managed by Eazy-E) after catching the attention of Eazy-E, manager Jerry Heller's nephew. Together with their other friends, Dante Santiago, they called their trio Atban Klann. But, their debut album was not released because Ruthless Records did not believe that the positive ideas indicated in the group's music are marketable to the audience. It was in 1995, after the death of Eazy-E that Atban Klann reformed the group to Black Eyed Peas, named so because according to will.i.am "Black Eyed Peas are the food for the soul".

Elephunk was their breakthrough album, and it was released in 2003, featuring a new female vocalist Fergie. She replaced the background singer Kim Hill, who left the band in 2000. It is in this album that they became popular because of the anti-war anthem "Where is the Love?", which became their first ever major hit, which top the chart everywhere, including 6 weeks at #1 in the UK where it became the best selling single of 2003. It was in this album that Black Eyed Peas anxiety song is included, as well. Unfortunately, anxiety does not have a music that is why it's not as popular compared to the other hit singles in the album. But, Black Eyed Peas anxiety is a very good song. In fact, it has given 4 stars rating from those who have listened to song.

The album Elephunk won worldwide success and went gold and platinum in the US, UK, Germany, and other European Countries. Although, Black Eyed Peas anxiety single is not as successful as the other songs in the album, the meaning that they want to convey to the audience is that how serious anxiety condition can be and how it can affect your life in all aspect. But, you are still the one who has control over your own emotion and thoughts. So, don't let anxiety ruin your life.

Summary: Anxiety and depression are familiar conditions to us, but are also among the most serious illnesses in the world.

There are times when we feel anxious and moody. So what? We all go through the same things from time to time, don't we? Anxiety and depression are normal part of life. Who has not studied for an exam without having test anxiety, and then scored much higher for it? Anxiety can keep us alert. Depression, on the other hand, can slow us down, giving us time to reflect and recollect ourselves. In other words, anxiety and depression express moods that are familiar to everybody.

But, when anxiety and depression seem to come from nowhere, last for weeks without relief, and get in the way of everyday activities, then we are not talking ordinary moods anymore; they are now illnesses. Anxiety and depressions are one of the most common mental illnesses in the world today.

People with anxiety disorder may have several physical symptoms, like trembling, sweating, muscle aches, nausea, fatigue, palpitation, dry mouth, cold and clammy hands. Emotionally, they are apprehensive, irritable; they have the feeling of impending doom, and they are self-conscious- feeling like being watched and criticized, etc. Obviously, people with anxiety disorder are often left immobilized. Anxiety keeps them house-bound, away from people, not able to do normal and simple for fear of this or that. People experiencing anxiety symptoms should know that it is a common disorder and is very curable.
The anxiety symptoms that you may experience include:

o Palpitations
o Increased sweating
o Shaking
o Shortness of breath
o Chest pain
o Nausea or stomach discomfort
o Feeling of light-headedness
o A feeling of unreality
o Feeling of being detached from oneself
o Fear of losing control or going crazy
o Fear of dying
o Feeling of impending doom

Depression, on the other hand, is a serious medical condition that affects the body, mood, and thoughts. It affects the way a person eats and sleeps, one's self concept, and the way one thinks about things. A depressive disorder is not the same as passing blue mood. It is not an indication of personal weakness or a state that can be willed or wished away. A person with depressive disorder usually can't pull themselves together and get better. Without treatment, symptoms can last for weeks to years. The treatment involves medications and/or temporary psychotherapy, which can be more helpful with depression sufferer. The symptoms of depressions may include:

o Persistent sad, anxious, or empty mood
o Feelings of hopelessness, pessimism
o Loss of interest in hobbies or activities that were once enjoyed, including sex
o Guilty feelings, worthlessness, helplessness
o Decreased energy, fatigue
o Difficulty concentrating, remembering, making decisions
o Appetite and/or weight changes
o Trouble sleeping or oversleeping, early morning awakening
o Thoughts of death or suicide, or suicide attempts
o Restlessness and irritability
o Persistent physical symptoms such as headaches, digestive disorders, and chronic pain that does not respond to routine treatment.

Anxiety and depression are two different conditions, but they are the same in the sense of the intensity of how serious these conditions can be. They are among the most common and most treatable mental illnesses in the world.

Different authorities may give varying definitions of anxiety disorder. However, among them we can find a universal theme that will lead us to a more solid definition of what truly is an anxiety disorder.

Anxiety disorder is a chronic condition characterized by extreme anxiety that creates a disturbance in the mood, behavior, thought, and psychological and physiological activities of the person affected. Anxiety disorder in general displays physical symptoms that are precursors to much greater changes in the brain of the individual having the disorder. These typically advance progressively and are often not given proper treatment due to the reason that the people surrounding the person and the sufferer himself often misconceive the physical manifestations of the condition. This is the reason why people with anxiety disorder are often only treated when they have gone to more serious levels.

Anxiety disorder usually affects adults and is significantly observed during teenage years. However, recent discoveries show a consensus of the possibility that adult manifestations of anxiety disorder are the products of subtle physiological and psychological disorders during childhood.

Anxiety disorder comes in different forms. However, they are usually characterized by anxiousness over a thing, an event or people that may cause extreme anxiety for the person. Commonly, these things are their reasons why they avoid social contact (as in the case of agoraphobia), and they repeatedly do activities that are way beyond the normal performance of a person not subject to the condition (like with obsessive-compulsive disorder).

There are types of anxiety disorder that are more prevalent in an age bracket and may only manifest minimally in other ages. Take for instance the case of separation anxiety disorder. More often than not, the affected age bracket for these conditions are the children.

At first, the effects of separation anxiety disorder are a welcomed plus for parents due to significant concern displayed by the child. However, when the symptoms continue to aggravate, parents may likely develop annoyance toward their child. Rightfully (or unrightfully) enough, these children will make necessary efforts to check their parents every once in a while for their safety (often even during the midnight). For more serious cases, the child would restrict himself from activities that would likely separate him from his major attachment figure or the person from which his separation anxiety disorder is focused.

Another anxiety disorder that is more prevalent in a single age bracket is the social phobia. Usually, these come from young people who are on the process of puberty. However, this developmental process is not the sole reason why they develop the disorder. Research shows that social phobia is rooted from childhood experiences. They are only significantly observed during teenage years because of the heightened social consciousness that goes along with the process.

For the majority of anxiety disorders however, they may manifest during adulthood. Take for example the following types:

Agoraphobia is not "fear of open spaces". Actually, if we are to closely examine, we may arrive to the fact that the term itself came from two Greek words which meant, "fear of the marketplace" in itself not an open space. By definition, agoraphobia is the heightened fear over spaces or events where immediate escape is not possible or when the agoraphobic feels no security.

In the end, anxiety disorder cannot be singularly contained into a common definition because it is in itself a broad terminology for the general disorders that cover heightened sensations of anxiety and fear.

Intriguingly enough, not all people diagnosed of infertility may display physical symptoms that may lead to the conception of the idea. This is termed as undiagnosed difficulty, one that cannot be explained physically by medical science. In fact, experts assert that psychological causes or what we refer to as psychogenic infertility complements the absence of any physical factors.

If you are thinking that this condition appears on a relatively small portion of patients, then it is time to make necessary considerations. Because as the latest research may suggest ten percent of American couples are suffering from this disorder.

There are cases when couples, after having tried so hard to conceive a child are still not successful enough for their initial years. However, there are still chances for them to form a family after some few years or more. On the other end of the scale, there are cases when they cannot absolutely create a child even with proper sexual intercourse without birth control.

The former is what we call as infertility. As medical science may define it, infertility is the inability to produce a child in a span of one year. Infertility or subfertility is due to a single factor or a group factors that create the possibility of discontinuing or prevention of child production.

It differs from sterility. While infertility is a condition that makes it a challenge for one to conceive a child, sterility suggests physical problems that cause the inability to conceive. This is where the impossibility of conceiving occurs.

The cause or the causes of infertility or sterility is complex. In order for us to narrow down the complexities, let us focus only on the causes of infertility.

To be able to conceive a child, the fertilization must work in the proper manner and time. This is because fertilization occurs in a very complicated fashion. For most couples who are infertile, something goes wrong in any processes involved.

As we may all be aware of, the process starts with the egg and the sperm cell. Though that may be clearly stated, the elaborate processes and the timings that go with it must be completely understood. Often, this is where the problems occur. Either the male partner or the female partner is responsible for causing the problem but usually it is the male who is the major contributing factor or may even be the real, sole problem.

While most problems may be attributed to physical dysfunctions, impairment and disorders, experts have found out that even psychological factors play their courses in infertility. This is especially true with unexplained anxiety attack that are directly link to infertility.

Stress, in recent years have been recognized to interfere with a number of specific hormones necessary for producing sperm cells. Prolonged and excessive emotional stress can primarily affect the sperm count, which is a very essential factor in conceiving a child. If your sperm count is not enough, chances are you are at great risks to inability to produce a child. However, up to this date it is not yet clear if whether stress causes infertility or it is the other way around. Additionally, infertility due to stress can also affect your relationship with your partner and even your sexual functioning.

For cases of unexplained infertility, couples are likely to search comprehensively for assistance that may cause them desirable results. But even with unexplained anxiety attacks relating to infertility, couples affected are still among the few people with highest potency to conceiving a child. In short, their pregnancy rate is high.

Summary: Generalized anxiety disorder is diagnosed if symptoms are present in most days than not for more than six moths.

Generalized anxiety disorder is one of the common anxiety disorders. Anxiety disorders are the term covering several different forms of abnormal, pathological anxiety, fear, phobia and nervous condition, which may come on all of a sudden or gradually, over a period of several years and may impair or prevent the pursuing of normal daily routines.

The essential characteristic of Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is excessive uncontrollable worry about everyday things. This constant worry affects daily functioning and can cause physical symptoms. GAD is usually difficult to diagnose for it lacks some of the dramatic symptoms, like unprovoked panic attacks, that are seen with other anxiety disorders. To be able to diagnose Generalized Anxiety Disorder, the Generalized Anxiety Disorder Symptoms must be present more days than not for at least 6 months.

The diagnostic criteria for Generalized Anxiety Disorder symptoms are:

1. Excessive anxiety and worry (apprehension), occurring more days than not for a period of at least 6 months, about numerous events or activities.

2. The person with GAD finds it hard to control the worry.

3. The anxiety and worry are associated with three or more of the following six symptoms, with at least some symptoms are present for more than 6 months in most days than not (at least one is required for children):

* restlessness or feeling tense or on the edge
* easily fatigued
* difficulty concentrating or mind going blank
* irritability
* muscle tension and muscle aches
* difficulty falling or staying asleep, or restless unsatisfying sleep
* difficulty swallowing
* trembling, sweating
* nausea, light-headedness
* feeling out of breath

4. The focus of anxiety and worry is not limited to, or the anxiety or worry is not about having a panic attack, being embarrassed in the public, being contaminated, gaining weight, having multiple physical complaints, or having a serious illness, and the anxiety, and worry do not occur exclusively during post traumatic disorder.

5. The anxiety, worry, or physical symptoms cause clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of everyday activities.

6. The disturbance is not due to the direct physiological effect of substance, such as alcohol and drug abuse, or medical condition, and does not occur exclusively during a mood disorder, a psychotic disorder, or a pervasive developmental disorder.

When the anxiety level of people with GAD is mild, they can still function socially and keep a job. Even if they don't avoid certain situations as a result of their disorder, they may have difficulty doing the simplest daily activities if there anxiety is severe. The disorder comes on gradually and can begin at any age, but the risk is highest between childhood and middle age.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder is commonly treated with medication or cognitive-behavioral therapy. Several drugs are used to treat anxiety disorders and these include: benzodiazepines and antidepressants, and Quetiapine.

Fear is a human sensation that may work for him or against him. In the earliest studies, it has been found out that fear is not typically part of human life during birth. But instead, it was developed through time. All fears may be accepted as normal human component yet when one develops intense fear over specific conditions, then he may be having phobias. One such phobia is social phobia or social anxiety disorder.

Social anxiety disorder has no strict, definitive symptoms that are displayed. Yet, if we are to strictly examine the condition we may observe that it typically boils down into a state when too much fear of social interaction is emphasized.

Social phobia may bring the sensation of being trapped without any way to escape. It may also manifest as a feeling of serious need to shut away from the social world. Though social phobia may display symptoms that may be likened to agoraphobia, these conditions are still two different states. To make us better understand their differences, let us define what is agoraphobia and social anxiety disorder.

Social anxiety disorder has the common theme of fear over not performing well in the public or fear of becoming humiliated due to underperformed job. The fear of humiliation may cause the person with this condition to restrict himself to environments that will limit the possibilities of embarrassment. Or they may develop extreme anxiety over the prospect of humiliation.

Social anxiety disorder is not only a psychological and mental disease. Patients of this condition usually display physical symptoms during or before social contact. Symptoms may start as trembling and sweating while many experience blushing and flushing. Because they develop over-consciousness on the people's responses towards their behavior, they will most likely interpret them as reactions to their behavior. Because of this heightened social consciousness, they become more anxious of their environment, thus leading to more awkward behavior that is significant sources of humiliation.

Agoraphobia on the other hand is much like that of the social anxiety disorder since it deals with heightened consciousness towards the individual's environment and the anticipatory humiliation that may come upon them. Yet they mainly differ with the reality of the condition. By definition, agoraphobia is a psychological and behavioral impairment that permits normal social interaction due to elevated fear from the anticipation of humiliation. It also deals with the condition by which the person is restricted in a smaller radius of environment since fear of social contact and intense feeling of non-escape is more prevalent in agoraphobics.

While agoraphobia and social anxiety disorder display symptoms that are similar we still cannot arrive to the fact that they are alike. In fact, they have a number of differences that make them distinct.

Take for instance that though most cases of mental and psychological disorders prevail in the women population, the case of anxiety disorder will reveal that it is quite not in the mainstream. It is only about equally prevalent among both the male and female population.

Interestingly enough, even the very symptoms of social anxiety disorder makes it almost impossible for psychologists and mental health provider to seek the nature of the disorder simply for the reason that most patients refrain from human interaction.

Unfortunately enough, the rate of recognition of this disease is low. This is why it is usually difficult to detect where the condition starts and where does usual shyness begins.

Summary: Anxiety attack symptoms are what we typically experience if we feel sudden danger is going to happen.

Anxiety attack can be a very terrifying experience. It is a period of sudden and intense fear or discomfort, typically with an abrupt onset and usually lasting for no more than 10 minutes. Sometimes a person can experience a panic attack all of a sudden without particular reason. Most people that experience one attack will usually experience another attack, and those who have recurring attacks, or feel severe anxiety about having another are said to have panic disorder.

Various individuals report different symptoms during an anxiety attack. Some of the common anxiety attack symptoms are:

o Palpitations, a pounding of heart, or an accelerated heart rate
o Increased sweating
o Trembling or shaking
o Shortness of breath
o Chest pain or discomfort
o Nausea or stomach discomfort
o A feeling light-headedness, or faint
o A feeling of unreality
o Depersonalization or a feeling of being detached from oneself
o Fear of losing control or going crazy
o Fear of dying
o Numbness, or a tingling sensation
o Chills
o Feeling of impending doom

These are some of the possible anxiety attack symptoms. A normal person may experience one or more of these symptoms from time to time. Having to experience some of these anxiety attack symptoms is considered normal if you have reasonable explanations for them. But if you are experiencing them with no apparent reasons, it can be a sign of a more serious condition.

A person with phobia will usually experience an anxiety attack as a direct result of exposure to the things that trigger the phobia. These anxiety attacks are short- lived and quickly relieved once the trigger is escaped.

Usually an anxiety attack begins with an unusual bodily sensation from the anxiety attack symptoms. A person having an anxiety attack will then react, with fear that the symptoms are indicators of a much more serious threat and in turn reacts with more fear which intensified into a state of intense anxiety and panic. Cases of the possible situations where anxiety attack can occur are: when driving, on an airplane, crowded areas, or during sleep at night. Sometimes anxiety attack occurs in a situation where the person cannot exit easily from a social gathering, or in a meeting, but others may experience an incident of anxiety for no reason while in comfortable place or even in sleep.

Anxiety attack symptoms are more or less the same feelings we might experience if we feel danger is about to happen. They are signs of how we usually react if we are triggered by fear, worry, and concern. But, chill out! Fortunately, anxiety attack is not an illness.

Anxiety disorders are very common around the world, and in the U.S. alone almost 20% of the adult population is affected by a form of this mental illness. There are different types of anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, social anxiety and specific phobias. In general, women are affected by anxiety disorders more often than men.

Anxiety can develop from a chemical or hormonal imbalance in the brain, genetics and environmental factors, such as built-up stress, a learned pattern of behaviors and unresolved issues. Physical symptoms and manifestations of anxiety include rapid heartbeat, chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, insomnia, tension and irritation. The good news is that while anxiety is widespread, sometimes very serious and can impact the quality of one's life, it is treatable.

There are also many treatment options for people who are affected by anxiety. Medication is often used, including antidepressants and anti-anxiety medicines, which can be used in short-term as well as long-term cases and can also be used in conjunction with other treatments. Therapies, done with a therapist or counselor, include behavior therapy, which involves controlling undesired behavior; cognitive therapy, which involves changing negative thought patterns; cognitive-behavior therapy; and relaxation and calming techniques, such as breathing, massage and aromatherapy.

There are also natural remedies for treating anxiety disorders and anxiety symptoms. Natural remedies include eating right to maintain blood sugar levels and exercising, as well as taking dietary supplements, such as a vitamin B complex. Anxiety disorders can be treated-or at the very least, its symptoms managed-so that you can exert control over the anxiety instead of anxiety having control over you.

The majority of us feel anxious at any point of our lives. It may be because we are expecting a crucial event or we are asked to do something we are not accustomed to do like speaking in public. Such reactions are normal. However, when anxiousness becomes chronic and consuming, it may be a sign of a far greater condition that we may derive from simple forms of anxiety.

It is a wonder why too many of us Americans have been developing psychiatric, behavioral and mental disorders that are not as prevalent as with other countries or with people of other regions. Take for example the high toll of people with general anxiety disorder. For most states, this disorder is quite a new form of ailment. But with for us, the number of people with generalized anxiety disorder is alarming.

We may attribute this fact to the lifestyle we have created for ourselves. Who can deny among us how fast-paced and stressful our living conditions are? No one! For that is the truth. How many of us can find time for ourselves? To relax? To unwind and to put off for another day all the troubles of the present? The ordinary living for most people of other countries is our pleasure and we even pay for such.

How foolish that may be? The best things are free, they say. Rightly enough, the ideal things are truly the best. And the best are among the most priced in America.

That may be the root problem…along with many others. Now that we have established that fact then we can attribute the growth of problems to our daily experiences.

Anxiety disorder in America rates for around 1 for every 5 persons. That is the latest statistics. However, the real rate is still undefined since many opponents propose that that could be a far larger figure than anyone would have guessed. In fact, that is 20% of all Americans! If that figure were true, then we are on the edge of living a normal life and living with constant fear.

There are a number of factors that hinder us from arriving to the actual statistics. One of which is the refusal of patients to come out of the hiding due to their distressing condition. Most people think of anxiety disorder as something that one cannot be proud of. That's true. Yet that is not a reason enough to make an embarrassment of yourself.

Americans experience a number of conditions that are categorized as anxiety disorder. Among them are post-traumatic stress disorder, social and specific phobias, panic disorder and anxiety, excessive-compulsive disorder and generalized disorder.

On the first glance, patients of these conditions may look normal. Yet, somewhere in their personality they hide behaviors that may put some people off the guard. They must not be ostracized, rather they need assistance and compassion. Their conditions must be understood as something that is not their choosing. It is in fact a by-product of the stresses and experiences that we too undergo. Only, they were unlucky enough to become victims of such disorders.

Anxiety disorder in America is chronic. Meaning, individuals with these disorders must endure with them until cure is found. Treatments are available but not all patients respond to the medications and therapies in ways science intended them to be. Some heal within weeks but most require months and even years before they truly come up to full recovery.

Anxiety attacks are more commonly known as panic attacks. Today these anxiety attacks are a lot more common than they were in the past. This is likely due to the abundance of heightened stress in the lives of people. We are getting busier and busier and our health is suffering.

These anxiety attacks are caused by stressful situations; flashbacks to stressful events and unexpected illnesses. The symptoms that you will have whenever having anxiety attacks include an increased heart and breathing rate; a dry mouth; chest pains; nausea; numbness or tingling in your limbs; sweating and diarrhea.

Anxiety attacks can happen to anyone at anytime. Most people do not even realize they have had an anxiety attack, they simply put it down to stress as they don't realize it is a medical condition.

Thankfully these anxiety attacks can be managed in several ways. First of all there is medication available. There are also a lot of herbs, including ginseng, wild yam, borage, licorice, chamomile, mile thistle, nettle kava, St John's Wort and Inositol that can help you manage your anxiety attacks. Of course, you will need to talk to your doctor about your anxiety attacks so that he can help you get them under control by either medication or or herbs.

The best way to manage your anxiety attacks is by preventing them from ever happening in the first place. One way to do this is through acupuncture, which is able to bring about a state of deep relaxation. You should also exercise regularly, especially if you do either yoga or aerobic activities. It is also important to get 8 hours of sleep each night.

Society truly does not understand anxiety attacks and depression. Unfortunately, some doctors and researchers do not understand anxiety attacks and depression either and yet these are the people who have to prescribe medications to treat these issues.

This is because anxiety attacks and depression are very difficult to diagnose. The symptoms may simply be a short term difficult time the patient is going through, or it can be something more serious. Thankfully, there are some ways in which you can cope with your anxiety attacks and depression without your doctor's help.

First of all, you need to eat healthy so that you can maintain your energy level and improve your mood. Food plays a major role in your overall feeling and wellbeing. Load yourself with good, high energy foods (NOT sugar) such as fruit and vegetables, and you will instantly feel better.

Secondly, you should avoid stimulants. This includes caffeine, sugar and cold medicines. If you are trying to use these stimulants to pick your energy up, you need to understand that their effects will eventually wear off, leaving you feeling even lower than before because you will be unable to sleep.

Third, you should avoid drugs and alcohol, not only because they are illegal, but also because they most drugs are downers.

Fourth, take some time to exercise daily because you can burn off stress and release endorphins in your brain, which will make you feel better.

Fifth, and finally, make sure that you have someone whom you can talk to and confide in. Once you talk some stuff out with this person, you will feel calm as this will relieve tension.

Anxiety medication is used to ease the symptoms of anxiety. These anxiety medications will not cure your disorder, but it will help you to be better equipped to help you deal with it. There are various types of anxiety medications available. These are usually either antidepressants, benzodiazepines or beta-blockers.

Your doctor will only describe these sorts of powerful drugs after a thorough look at your history, physical health and lifestyle. Because these drugs can often have strong side effects it is vital that your doctor conducts these checks first.

An antidepressant will increase your brain's level of serotonin, which is what helps to fight anxiety. These are most commonly known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). They are FDA approved to be used as anxiety's first line of treatment. The 3 that are used are paroxetine (Paxil), sertraline (Zoloft) and venlafaxine (Effexor XR).

Benzodiazepines are also used as an anxiety medication. They can quickly calm your anxiety because they act quickly. However, they do not have a long-term effect and your body can easily build up a tolerance to them. These include Xanax, Kalma, Restoril, Tranxene and Valium.

There are also beta-blockers, which are used whenever the way in which you act whenever faced with anxiety is predictable. These anxiety medications will alleviate your heart palpitations, tremors, sweating, blushing and other physical symptoms. Unfortunately, you will have to take these anxiety medications an hour before you know that you will be in a situation that will cause you to have anxiety.

Over time however your anxiety levels should decrease and ultimately the goal is for you not to have to take any medication at all.

General anxiety disorder is the most common mental illness in America. In fact, nearly 20% of all adults in America suffer from general anxiety disorder. Unfortunately, women are twice as likely to experience general anxiety disorder than men.

Approximately 1/3 of the adults who suffer from general anxiety disorder actually had some symptoms as children. Of course, this is especially true of women who also suffer from panic disorders. It is common for women to suffer from this after childbirth; however the majority do get over it quickly.

Many parents do not notice or simply ignore the symptoms of anxiety in their children. This can have drastic consequences has they head into adolescence and adulthood.

The reason for this is due to childhood sexual abuse. Interestingly enough, this causes 65% of men and only 46% of women to develop a general anxiety disorder, which can lead to post traumatic stress disorder.

Of course, each of us faces some form of anxiety each day. In fact, the list of anxiety causing events is pretty much endless. It comes from such things as losing a job, being in debt, waiting for medical tests or the death of a loved one. However, most of us can overcome this anxiety because we see how we have succeeded overcoming events that have caused anxiety in the past.

Luckily mental health professionals are available to help you if you are suffering from general anxiety disorder. It is important to get this treatment because if it is not taken care of, it can lead you to be unable to even leave home.

While everyone will face some anxiety, it is for various reasons. Some of these reasons are justifiable while at other times it is both chronic and persistent, manifesting itself as a mental illness that is commonly known as social anxiety disorder.

The symptoms of social anxiety disorder include a high level of fear, worry and apprehension. Social anxiety disorder can be easily confirmed if a person is easily embarrassed or terrified of almost any social situation.

After a person suffers from these symptoms once or twice, they begin becoming fearful of it every time they are in a social situation. It is a cycle that is difficult to break, but certainly possible.

A person may suffer from social anxiety if they have to speak in public, however the mental illness is quite different from this. Whenever a person is suffering from social anxiety disorder they cannot live a normal daily life because they are afraid of socializing in any way. Whenever they do socialize they will blush, sweat, grow nauseas, tremble and even stammer. This fear of socialization can become crippling too.

Social anxiety disorder can be treated effectively with medication and psychotherapy. Another thing that work is cognitive behavior therapy. Most commonly, a person who is suffering from social anxiety disorder will be prescribed Paxil and Welbutrin.

However, since the 1990 there have been a lot more drugs available to help with social anxiety disorder. Many of these drugs have some serious side effects so doctors usually conduct a thorough history case study of the patient before prescribing them.

Many anxiety sufferers are learning the proper cognitive tools to overcome their anxiety. It isn't easy. It takes commitment. Learning to relax with anxiety takes daily practice and commitment. Here are some relaxation tips to get you started:

1. Acceptance – Whatever we resist will persist. Try not to see yourself as fighting your anxiety. Instead, see yourself as moving toward your goal of relaxation.

2. Talk to someone – Many anxiety sufferers feel better almost immediately when they have a supportive person to talk with.

3. Knowledge – The more you know about your condition, the better equipped you'll be. Things work better when we understand why we are doing them.

4. Breathing Techniques – Practice belly breathing. Breathe in to the count of 3 and out to the count of 4.

5. Meditation – Listen to guided meditation tapes or CDs.

6. Journal – Keep a notebook handy during the day, and when you recognize a "what if this happens?" thought forming, write it down. Review it later, when you are more relaxed. Ask the trigger question again, as if it were true. What would you do? Keeping a journal helps you discover possible hidden issues.

7. Take a nightly news vacation – Before bed, listen to relaxing music or read a book. If your habit is to watch the nightly news, try watching it first thing in the morning instead.

Learning to relax with anxiety will command your daily dedication. Be sure and celebrate even minor improvements. They are likely to be permanent ones!

Summary: People with Social Anxiety or feel that they might have this condition must be opened about it and see a doctor to be given appropriate treatment before it's too late.

Have you experienced what it must be like meeting your big boss for the first time? The thought of being watched by your superior while working is stressful, isn't it? Or, maybe you are so anxious to go to a beach party because you have not shed enough pounds to wear the two-piece swim suit (who knows how many years have them!), and you are so worried on what the people might say if you wear them with those excess baggage wrapping around your body? Those feelings are just normally. For as long as you have reasons to be anxious about anything, it is perfectly normal .But, if the anxiety is eating you up and you become anxious about what other people might say, or think, or do to you, which you know does not have rational basis, and the worst part is, you find it difficult to control your thought or emotion, that is social anxiety.

Social anxiety or social phobia is one of the largest mental health care problems in the word in the present day. A person with social anxiety simply spends time alone, closeted, away from people. They tend to choose to be alone than to be around with other people for fear that they might not fit in some ways or the other. Even when they are with familiar people, they may still feel overwhelmed and have the feeling that every movement and thought they made have been constantly watched or criticized. The feeling of being observed or being misjudged is one of the things that keep them away from people.

People with social anxiety are often misdiagnosed and are usually labeled as schizophrenic, manic-depressive, among other detrimental misdiagnoses. Because there few social anxious people have heard of their own condition and have never seen it discussed on any media, they tend to think that they're alone in this world suffering from the disturbing symptoms. The tendency is they keep their condition to themselves for fear of being misjudged, and with the lack of info, education, and proper treatment social anxiety continues to impair their lives. In addition, when the time comes that people with social phobia finally gets to their feet and seeks help, the chances are very slim. When worst comes to worst, people who experienced this condition for a day, will have it everyday for the rest of hi/her life. They are people with social anxiety disorder.

One thing common to all socially anxious people is that they share the same knowledge that their thoughts and fears are basically irrational, which only means, they know exactly that the people they think are misjudging and criticizing them are not true at all. They acknowledged that their thoughts, doubts, and feelings are in a way exaggerated and irrational, yet, despite the fact that they know what's really going on, they find it hard to control, and still continue to feel that way.

If there's bad, there's always good, and the good thing is that social anxiety is curable. There are many therapeutic methods which have been studied, but cognitive-behavioral therapy is the only modality that has been made known to work effectively. Actually, the treatment of social phobia through cognitive-behavioral methods has the capacity to produce long-term, permanent relief to sufferers of social phobia. Isn't it a happy ending, after all?

Being anxious is normal. We have to because that is one of our defense mechanisms. However, the normality of anxiousness ends indefinitely. Anxiousness or fear may be defined by different cultures depending on their orientation to stimuli and their perception of what actually is fear. What is fearful to one may not necessarily be fearful to another. So anyone who experience attacks of anxiety cannot be given proper diagnosis unless all the factors that may be linked to the development of this disorder is discovered.

However, regardless of what cultural differences we have, all humans certainly display characteristics that are similar and existing to any forms of culture, society or even from one person to another. the truth is the normal boundary of anxiety may be found somewhere between extremity and daily fears.

Having said that, once we have created that actual boundary then efficient diagnosis of the disease may be actualized. The point is, when one is diagnosed of a disorder, an ailment or a disease then health care providers will also be able to find treatment for them. Take the cases of disease where the causes are still unknown. With these diseases, diagnosis is not possible because doctors will have no basis for analyzing the conditions of their disease. but once that there have been found out evidences that may link the display of symptoms to a type of disorder then treatment is possible.

The everyday measures that you do yourself can initiate the anxiety disorder to react in a positive manner such as aerobics, meditation or relaxation exercises, confiding with a friend, and regular breathing exercises. Yet when the severity of the anxiety disorder is evident, then professional care must be thoroughly induced. The good thing is anxiety disorder is among one of the most treatable psychiatric disorder. So there is no need for further "anxiousness" over the possibility that you might not be cured from your condition. And while they may affect your emotional and psychiatric well being, anxiety disorders are typically not distressing enough to disable you from daily routines.

Anxiety disorder is normally treated in two sets, a combination of therapy and medication or separate treatments of both. Yet most experts assert that more dramatic and effective treatments are gained from the mixture of both methods. This is true because drugs provide short-term and immediate relief while life-long relief can be given by psychiatric measures.

Psychotherapy is basically used in modifying the effects and the person's reaction towards the attacks of anxiety. They generally come in two forms: behavioral therapies and cognitive therapies. The latter will help you control your negative and unrealistic patterns of thinking that may contribute to the aggravation of your reaction to the stimuli. While the former will expose you to the stimuli to help he doctors detect what really might have triggered your anxiety disorder.

It must be noted though that treatment for anxiety disorder is a one to one method. By this, we mean that treatment must be customized and personalized to suit your requirements since most psychiatric conditions often have causes that are true only to individuals and not in a group of patients.

Drug treatments on the other hand, target and manage (even treats) the symptoms of the anxiety disorder. These may include lorazepam (Ativan), diazepam (Valium), alprazolam (Xanax).

There are a number of different ways to cope with anxiety. By taking advantage of the different ways of coping with anxiety, individuals can reduce the baneful side-effects that anxiety often produces. First, any activity that gives one a sense of relaxation can help alleviate the symptoms of anxiety. Yoga, meditation, visualization exercises, moderate exercise, or even artistic endeavors can help individuals focus their minds on the task before them and consequently, cause the individual to refrain from thinking about the event or circumstance that produced the anxiety in the first place. Secondly, individuals that experience extreme bouts of anxiety can serve themselves well by entering into some professional counseling. Counseling sessions will allow the individual to discuss what produces their anxiety and they can also discuss techniques that will help them manage or cope. Meanwhile, a counselor can determine if the anxiety that the individual experiences is an anxiety disorder that requires treatment with various medications created to reduce the symptoms of anxiety.

Summary: Psychological therapies are much more effective anxiety cure than medications.

It is normal for people to experience anxiety from to time. It makes us cope from very stressful situations. But when anxiety becomes too much and turns into irrational fear of everyday circumstances, it becomes a debilitating anxiety disorder. Unlike short-lived, mild anxiety caused by a stressful event, anxiety disorder lasts at least 6 months and may worsen if not properly and immediately treated.

The best way to anxiety cure is to understand anxiety condition. Anxiety is a troubled state of mind. Anxiety results from fearful thinking of future events or situations. It is a condition that is not accidental, unknown, or uncontrollable. Anxiety condition occurs for specific reason and have underlying basis why it persists. Education is an important way to help attain anxiety cure. Here are some of the helpful tips towards anxiety cures which may aid in taking control over your own emotions again.

Relaxation techniques- a person feeling anxious most of the time has trouble relaxing, however, learning how to release muscle tension is an important anxiety cure. Relaxation techniques include: regular muscle relaxation, meditation, abdominal breathing, and isometric relaxation exercise.

Proper breathing techniques- the physical symptoms of anxiety maybe triggered by hyperventilation or rapid breathing, which raises oxygen levels and reduces the amount of carbon dioxide in the blood. A person with anxiety condition should know how to breathe from their diaphragm, and not from their chest, to prevent against hyperventilation. This technique can help you calm down while feeling anxious.

Cognitive therapy- this technique focuses on altering patterns of thinking and beliefs that are associated with ad trigger anxiety.

Anxiety has become a common problem in today's fast-paced society. Though it seems that there are more gadgets and inventions than ever to supposedly help us live easier lives, anxiety still remains a growing problem. If you are suffering from anxiety, there are some things that you can do to ease the problem.

* Sleep – It is essential that you get enough sleep in order to help combat anxiety. Adults should get from 6 to 8 hours of sleep each night (or day, depending on your schedule). Lack of sleep can wreak havoc with the nervous system.

* Meditation – Meditation is something that everyone can practice. Find a quiet place and relax your mind and body for at least a half hour each day if possible. Play soft music if that helps. Meditation is a wonderful "mini vacation" from the stresses of everyday life.

* Nutrition – Try to eat a balanced diet, and take vitamin and mineral supplements each day if necessary. A healthy body is better able to cope with stress and anxiety.

* Exercise – Studies have proven that regular exercise can release stress-relieving endorphins into our bodies, improving our moods and increasing our ability to deal with stress.

* Counseling – If anxiety is interfering with your life, it can help to seek counseling. A licensed psychiatrist or psychologist can help you to deal with the underlying problems that may be causing your anxiety.

* Medication – Once again, if anxiety is interfering with your everyday life, your doctor may be able to prescribe medication that can help. Anti-anxiety or antidepressant medication can be beneficial if combined with counseling and other self-help therapies, such as those mentioned above. Be aware, however, that relieving stress through medication should be seen as a short-term therapy; one that can help while you are working on other solutions.

Everyone knows what it feels like to be anxious- you feel butterflies in your stomach your actions become topsy-turvy, you can almost hear your heart beat right next to your ears, and you are sweating like you are jogging. These are what you go through usually if you have stage fright and you are required to speak in public, or during your first date (who knows when was that!). These, among other feelings (feelings of anxiety) are normal reactions to stress.

Anxiety stirs you up in action. It helps you deal with a tense situation like focusing on a speech that you are about to give, studying harder for an exam, or staying interesting on your first date to make it to the second, and all that. In general, it helps you deal with any situation that is normally terrifying, especially if you are doing it the first time. I, for one, have many times been in this kind of situation and I can tell you it is only passing. But, if it elevates to excessive, irrational fear of everyday situations, now it has become an immobilizing disorder.

Anxiety disorder can cause you to be filled with fearfulness and ambiguity which maybe felt briefly only. However some anxiety disorder last at least 6 months and has the tendency to get worse if not treated immediately. Anxiety disorders usually occur along with other psychological or physical sickness, including alcohol or drug abuse, which can actually worsen the situation.

If you think you have anxiety disorder, don't hesitate to seek information about it and find treatment right away before it gets into you. There are effective therapies out there and recent research reveals new treatments that can help most people with this condition lead fruitful and fulfilling lives.

There are five major types of anxiety disorders; general anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panics disorder, posttraumatic disorder (PST), specific phobias, and social phobia or social anxiety disorder. Each of the anxiety disorder has different symptoms, but all the symptoms come together around excessive and irrational fear or dread.

Every normal thinking person is expected to feel anxious in certain areas of his/her life, especially when he/she feels out of control of a situation. There are many reasons that anxiety creeps to your life but if it triggers you to some positive action, then you are handling it the best way.
Stop worrying too much after you have done the best you can on any life situation or responsibility. Let things be, if things are meant to happen, they will happen. Enjoy life for there are many reasons to be happy, so why worry?

He may feel anxious from time to time and that is expected to pass. Becoming anxious is only one of his normal response to daily stresses that may come his way. Yet once anxiousness is eating most of his time and his being and has developed into a chronic condition then all normal states may be considered obsolete. The person may have now developed a serious form of anxiety or what we medically pertain to as anxiety disorder.

The causes why people develop anxiety disorders are still reserved for further discoveries. For now, there are still no certain results from the number of studies that have been conducted during the past years. However, experts have now several ideas that may lead them to uprooting the real factors that contribute and cause the development of anxiety disorders.

During the earlier studies, patients are recorded to have been rushing into hospital emergency rooms while the doctors cannot find definitive symptoms that may lead to possible disorders. However, during the last couple of years experts have recorded the symptoms that will lead them to the diagnosis of the disease.

Anxiety symptoms differ from one patient to another. This is due to the reason that the nature of the individual himself, his biological, physical, psychological make-up must be considered before any assumption is made plus the intensity and frequency of the anxiety symptoms.

Summary: Kids or pets with separation anxiety display behaviors, which describe their distress that they don't want to be left alone.

I remember one time during my school years, I saw a mother trying to leave her clinging, teary and tantrum-filled child at school. Goodbyes like that are common to the children's earliest years. Actually, it is called separation anxiety. But, it's not only common to children; it is as well common to parents, especially if they only have one child ready for school. Separation anxiety usually develop around the first birthday of a child, getting upset when parents tries to leave them with other people. Though, separation anxiety is perfectly normal part of childhood development, it can be disturbing.

A baby develops separation anxiety sometime between their 4th -7th month. During this time, your baby develops a sense of object permanence. Baby realizes that there's only one of you. That is why when they can't see you, they will cry for they meant that you've gone away. Between 8th months to 1 year, your child becomes even more uncertain about being separated from you. This is when separation typically develops, and your child may show tantrums and cry hard whenever you try to leave.

The timing of separation anxiety can vary widely from child to child. There are kids who experience it earlier and some may experience it later, and it also depends on the child on how the parents respond. In cases where the separation anxiety interferes with an older child's normal activities, it can be an indication of a serious anxiety disorder. In cases where separation condition came out of the blue in an older child, it can be a sign of another problem and it is possible that the child may be dealing with, like harassment or mistreatment.

Always remember that separation anxiety is typically different from the normal feelings an older child has when he/she doesn't want a parent to leave. In cases like that, a child may be distracted to overcome the distress until the parents arrive, and remembers that her parents left. In addition, your child doesn't understand the effects of his/her behavior has on you. If you come after your baby every time he/she cries, your child may use the same trick on you just to avoid separation.

Separation anxiety is not only common to kids and parents. Believe it or not, it is also what your dog feels every time you leave them. Everyone needs a little time and space these days due to the hectic schedules from work and family. Unless of course, you are "man's best friend" Dogs with separation anxiety displays a behavior problems when they are left alone, typically lasting for 20-45 minutes after their owners leave them. The most common of these behaviors are:

o Digging, chewing, and scratching at doors or windows tiring to escape and reunite with their owners
o Howling, barking, and crying in an attempt to get their owner to come back
o Urination and defecation (even housetrained dogs) as a result of distress.

In cases where you find your couch, doors and other furniture all torn up, because of what your dogs did, just put yourself in your dog's shoes, and try to understand how it feels to suffer separation anxiety.

When you become fearful of virtually everything that you may come to think of and when that fear borders beyond the boundary of being normal then you might be experiencing generalized anxiety disorder.

It doesn't matter if the fear has a basis or if it is logical, so long as the fear pertains to all things that you think is fearful while for others may not, the prospect that you are at risk against the disorder is high. Most patients of general anxiety disorder are much too concerned about themselves, their families, the events that has befallen their lives, their neighbors, and even the world. And this condition will eat up most of their day thus affecting their productivity and their stability in general. You see, it really doesn't matter. The person just develops extreme fears, probably "out of the blue".

Anxiety for the majority of people is triggered by distressing, alarming, dangerous, uncertain, threatening and valuable events. For such cases, anxiety may even become productive for them such as the case for people who work more efficiently when put under stress. This way they are motivated and consequently function better.

People with general anxiety disorder though are permitted from working at their optimum state. In this manner, their capacity to produce is lessened and their capability to be efficient becomes almost inexistent since symptoms (both physical and psychiatric) impede them from achieving what they should be getting.

Their fears are excessive and consuming that sometimes they prefer to brood inside their own confinements to fears of both real and unrealistic things. In short, they fear too much yet their fears are distinguishable from that of phobia since phobias have specific objects for which they may associate their fears. And so they are more implicit as compared with general anxiety disorder. Therefore, for general anxiety disorder the fears and the object of extreme anxiety are more free-floating and undefined.

Though the incidence of general anxiety disorder is prevalent among Americans, the condition still remains to be one of the most treatable psychiatric disorders. But this truth still does not negate the fact that there are around 4 to 5 million sufferers among us.

Based on analysis, it has been found out that for most psychiatric disorders the female population is more affected than that of the male sector. Although there are no definitive explanations that will attest to this fact, some authorities assert that this may be due to the presence of many psychological and stressful experiences among women. This can be simply seen with the daily activities that women have to endure.

If we are to explain the condition medically, we can trace its beginnings from over-induced neurotransmitters, which in turn tend to have varying and abnormal levels of activities. Neurotransmitters are known to be the chemicals that help transmit brain signals across the nerve endings. Only the neurotransmitters that are responsible for anxiety-related activities are affected.

For psychological explanation, we can view general anxiety disorder in the activities and the relation of the unconscious part of the brain and the conscious. For some reason, these two parts clash during instances that give rise to anxiety. However, there is over emphasis for this clashing for people who experience general anxiety disorder.

However, if we are take into consideration the theory that explains the behavior we may result to the conclusion that general anxiety disorder might be the result of not being sure how to conduct oneself or what actions and behavior must be employed in a given situation.

Although it was already asserted that general anxiety disorder is likely to be treated in easier fashion as compared with other psychiatric conditions, the case seem to be varying from patient to patient. This must be because of the developed conditions that later became as the product of general anxiety disease.

Summary: Anxiety disorders can affect your daily life activities and may worsen if immediate treatment is not given.

Is there anything that makes you worry lately? It is completely normal to worry about things in life like your hectic schedules, rocky relationships, job interviews, and the many things our complicated life brings us. But, if the worries become too much that you may feel so choked up and that you are not in control of your life anymore, they might be symptoms of anxiety disorders.

Anxiety disorders are affecting people age 18 years and above, causing them to be filled with fear and uncertainty. It is defined as excessive anxiety and worry, happening more days than not for at least 6 months and can get worse if they are not treated. The person with anxiety disorder finds it difficult to control his/her anxiety. Anxiety disorders usually occur along with other mental or physical illnesses, including drug or alcohol abuse, to mask the symptoms or worsen them. Each anxiety disorder has different symptoms, but all the symptoms cluster around excessive, unreasonable fear and dread.

Some of the common types of anxiety disorders are separation anxiety, social anxiety or phobia, selective mutism, panic disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder (PST), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), agoraphobia, generalized anxiety disorder, and specific phobia.

Summary: Anxiety attack may affect your quality of life if not given treatment immediately

As a human being, it is normal that we feel anxious, worried, and fears from time to time due to the things that our complicated lives bring. Anxiety is just a part of life. It helps us cope with the stresses we may encounter. If you are in a state of anxiety, it is likely that you experience anxiety attack.

Anxiety attack is a sudden surge of overwhelming fear that comes without warning and without any apparent reason and this would usually last for no more than 10 minutes. It is far more intense than having anxiety or the feeling of being stressed out. One in every 75 people worldwide will experience an anxiety attack at one point in his/her life.

Most anxiety sufferers report fear of dying, going crazy or losing control of emotions as well as behavior. The incidents generally provoke a strong urge to escape or run away from the place where the attack begins, and they are associated with chest pain or shortness of breath, and feeling of impending doom

A person with a phobia will often experience an anxiety attack as a direct result to the hung-up trigger. These anxiety attacks are brief and quickly relieved once the trigger is escaped. In the conditions of chronic anxiety, one anxiety attack can usually turn into another one, leading to a nervous fatigue over a period of days.

An anxiety attack has symptoms that often occur suddenly without any apparent cause. The symptoms can be as follows"

* Pounding heartbeat, generally faster in nature
* Increased sweating
* Dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea
* Difficulty breathing
* Tingling and/or numbness in the face
* Dreamlike sensations or perceptual distortions (de-realization)
* Disassociation, the perception that one is not connected to the body and time.
* Fear of losing control and doing something embarrassing
* Fear of dying
* Feeling of impending doom
* Crying, associated to the above symptoms

Anxiety attack usually last for several minutes and is considered one of the most disturbing condition that anyone can live through in everyday life. The way to understand the different symptoms of anxiety attack is: first, comes the sudden jolt of fear with less or no triggering motivation, and then this will lead to a release of adrenaline (epinephrine), which causes the supposed fight-or-flight response, where the person's body prepares for major physical activity. This results to an increased heart rate, labored breathing or hyperventilation, and sweating. The diaphragm, involved in the action of the lungs, is also a muscle and it can become overly tight. When there is continuous, inferior anxiety, a person frequently works too hard when breathing. However, if there is hyperanxiety or an anxiety attack, there is overwhelming excitement, and a person may hyperventilate.

Because strenuous activity hardly ever arises, the hyperventilation leads to carbon dioxide levels lowering in the lungs and then the blood, resulting to the shift in the pH of the blood, which will then lead to many of the other symptoms, such as tingling or numbness, dizziness, and lightheadedness.

Anxiety attack is a serious condition, but before you start thinking if you have this condition and go running to see a doctor, stop and take a deep breath! Relax before you start having an anxiety attack, even if you actually don't have it. Don't take things too hard for it may lead to something serious and may affect your daily routine. Take things lightly. In any case, if you think you have this condition, the first thing you should do is see a doctor. If you are diagnosed with anxiety attack condition, appropriate medication and good counseling can bring your life to normal again. Otherwise, tell yourself to relax and continue to live your life to the fullest.

Many people claim that after years of hiding their panic attacks, they discovered siblings and/or parents who also suffered from the same condition. Often when a family member seeks help and begins to feel better, they will tell someone in their family about it. When family members become aware that a sibling has received treatment that worked, they will come forward and get help, also. There is still a stigma attached to anxiety disorders, which explains why hereditary studies aren't always conclusive.

Let's say that you are aware that anxiety can be hereditary, but there is no trace of it in your family. There are other causes of someone developing an anxiety disorder. A major stressful event in life can be a trigger. Here are some common examples:

* Grief: Death of a family member, parent, close friend or spouse.
* Financial Difficulties: Sudden loss of a job, debt burdens.
* Major trauma: A car accident, being robbed at gunpoint, a major natural disaster, a life-threatening illness.
* Happy Events (still stressful, nonetheless): getting married, starting a family or a new job.

Some people can pinpoint a major life event that could be the emotional seed that grew into anxiety problems. Others will dismiss the possibility because it's been years since the stress occurred, but experts believe stress build-up can affect someone much later in life.

While it is true that anxiety can be hereditary, it can strike anyone, at any age, for many other reasons. If there does seem to be a lot of anxiety disorders within your family, however, you should probably assume that you are at risk, and perhaps takes steps to prevent it in yourself.

Although these things can be helpful, people should not discount other, less conventional methods of reducing anxiety, such as meditation. Meditation is a foreign concept to a lot of people, and many believe that it is something that must be learned and studied for a long period of time before it can be beneficial. The fact is, meditation is simply calming the body and mind and practicing focused relaxation techniques. This can be done by anyone, and the benefits of meditation can have an effect on anxiety in a very short time.

Meditation requires a peaceful and undisturbed setting, and a comfortable place to lie or sit. It can be accompanied by music or soothing sounds, such as a recording of ocean waves, or you can meditate in complete quiet. A key to effective meditation is finding what works best for you.

Once you have established your preference as far as the right atmosphere for meditation, try to set aside time each day to practice. Close your eyes and take several deep, slow breaths. Allow your body and mind to relax. One way to do this is to imagine yourself in a pleasant, peaceful place, such as by the ocean or in a meadow. Picture yourself in this place using as much detail as possible. This type of focusing can help your mind stop racing – stressful thoughts can be replaced with relaxing images. Let your thoughts wander, but try to always picture yourself in your peaceful setting. The longer you practice this, the more accomplished you will become at reducing your anxiety. Anxiety becomes a bad habit that we must break, and to break this habit we have to replace it with a better one. When you learn the habit of relaxation through meditation, it will help you feel less anxious in any situation.

There are children who seem to care too much for their parents. That would be delightful but only on the first occasions. Later, parents will find this attachement annoying and would even devise plans to get their children out of reach, even for a while. But some parents would wish that on some extent, if only they can get their child out of sight permanently then they had done that. Why a reaction such as this would develop in some parents despite the fact that their children would even bother to call home several times a day just to check if their parents are okay? Simply because of that plain reason (of calling home twenty or more times a day) and a hoard of others.

At first glance, children with separation anxiety disorder would appear like normal children. But actually, they are not if we are pertaining to their reactions over their separation with a parent or a parent figure. A young child who displays symptoms of extreme unwillingness to separate from home or from someone he cares a lot (a given example of which is the parent) is possibly positive of having separation anxiety disorder. Or even the prospect of becoming separated from a caregiver would likely develop extreme fear for the child.

Symptoms
Symptoms of separation anxiety disorder may come in two forms: one group tells something about the potential of hurting oneself and the other is the possibility of harming another person (a caregiver perhaps but never the figure for whom he worries much about).

The initial symptoms is avoidance of the activities that may possibly cause separation. That would include rules like "I am not going to school", or to the party, mall and others.

Nightmares are also significantly high among children with separation anxiety disorder. Along with sleep troubles are somatic complaints in the forms of unexplainable headaches, stomachache, sweating, nausea and the likes. The interesting fact in here is that children with separation anxiety disorders often display physical symptoms before the prospect of "going to school" and other places that will lead to separation but would have none of them after the confirmation that they will not go. They are not faking but sudden occurrence and perishing of symptoms are real.

Criteria for diagnosis
Conditions inappropriate for the age of the child and extreme anxiousness over the fear of losing one's parents or separation from homes may all be evident when a person experiences separation anxiety disorder. But experiencing three or more of the following criteria would likely diagnose you as a patient.

* Recurrent extreme depression when the prospect of separation from attachment figures arises.

* Excessive and persistent anxiety over harmful events that might befall the person's attachment figures.

* Extreme anxiousness over an event that might cause his separation from a major attachment figure such as being lost or kidnapped.

* Extreme reluctance to go elsewhere but the place where his attachment figure is present.

* Fear or reluctance to be alone where significant attachment figures cannot be found.

* Unwillingness to sleep where his attachments figure is not next to him or to his room.

* Recurrent dreams and nightmares that focus on the theme of separation.

* Repeated experiences of unexplained attacks of physical symptoms such as head and stomachaches, nausea and vomiting and the likes.

Though separation anxiety disorder is more prevalent among children, the possibility that teens would develop the same condition is also high. In fact, the onset is generally traced before the age of eighteen.
