Cerebral palsy is a chronic condition affecting the nerves and muscle co-ordination of the body. Also known as CP, the disorder occurs during infancy or after a short period of birth. The disorder often mistaken as a disease, is non- progressive and a non- communicable one. It is not inherited either. It is mainly caused due to lack of supply of brain or an accident causing an injury to the brain.
Although there are many reasons for the disorder like infection to the brain, severe jaundice and many more, but the actual cause for cerebral palsy in people is still not known. There are various effects of cerebral palsy observed on the human body. Mental retardation, speech problem, communication problems, abnormal body posture and abnormal behavior are a few to name.

Cerebral palsy is a disorder which unfortunately cannot be cured. It is a disorder that remains in the body until the destiny. However there are certainly effective therapies available that can minimize the effect of the disorder to a certain extent. There are a lot of institutes and organizations and some associated organizations across the world that are working for the cause of the betterment of the people affected by the deadly disorder. The organizations run independent clinics which help children and adults with CP, achieve independence by providing the physical therapy treatments free of cost or at a rate that can be afforded by the families of these people.

Case of each patient is undertaken individually and completely studied in detail and then a treatment is decided for that patient. The treatment could be of a short time or a long time depending on the severity of the disorder that has affected the patient. The list of the therapies that are available in these clinics are speech concerned programs, posture related activities, improvement on communication and thinking of the CP affected people. These activities make a very short but important and common case lists. There are other programs and medications carried by the clinics depending on the cases that are commonly observed in a specific region. These clinics and the organizations are certainly helping the cause of the institutions by serving them in a right sense.
