There are many people in this world who are suffering from dental problems. Primarily dental problems are caused due to unhygienic conditions. Due to these unhygienic conditions food materials gets deposited inside the gaps between the teeth which gives birth to bacteria which in turn results in tooth decay. Though by proper brushing we can keep out teeth clean from the food materials but when the damage has been caused it becomes really very difficult to clean the deposited food materials from the holes in the teeth. So there is an alternative by which we can clean the teeth known as dental drill.

An overview

A dental drill (or dentist's drill) is a small, high-speed drill used in dentistry to remove decayed tooth material prior to the insertion of a dental filling. Dental drills are used in the treatment of dental caries. The term "dental drill" is considered the more colloquial form of the term "dental hand piece". The latter is a more generic term for generic dental tools.
Primitive dental drills were used in the 18th and early 19th centuries. In 1868, American dentist George F. Green added power to the drill with a pneumatic version run by a pedal-powered bellows. In 1871, dentist James B. Morrison added pedal power to a bur drill. And in 1875, Dr. Green patented an electrified dental drill. This development has revolutionized the field of dentistry.

Uses

Dental drill as an equipment has uses in dentistry also and also it has some other usages. In dentistry it is used to clear the tooth materials that get deposited between the holes in the teeth caused due to tooth decay. Also before dental filling it is used so that ay material doesn't remain inside and cause further tooth decay. Well dental drills and drill bits are also commonly used by jewelers and hobbyists for high precision drilling work.

A boon

The invention of dental drill has proved to be a boon for those people who are suffering from the pain of tooth problems. Whereas cleaning of the affected teeth has been unsuccessful by bare hands or brushes, dental drill has proved to be really very effective in that case.
