The Two Sides Of Laser Hair Removal Training: Who Is Qualified?

When deciding on a career path, many individuals with an interest in the cosmetology fields are considering laser hair removal training. Every state has different requirements as to who is qualified to perform laser hair removal; and laws are changing as this issue has shot to the forefront because of concerns for consumers. Laser hair removal training has become a controversial issue. Many physicians are of the opinion that this technology belongs in medical professionals hands. The beauticians and cosmetologist feel that with proper laser hair removal training, this is an acceptable part of their domain.

A Brief History of Lasers And The Field Of Laser Hair Removal Training

Lasers have been in use for decades in the medical field. The initial lasers used in the removal of hair, were not very successful. They had a powerful pulsating laser that caused skin damage. In 1995 the FDA approved a laser treatment for hair removal. Unfortunately, this model was not very successful and was pulled from the market. Another attempt was made in 1997 to begin establishing laser hair removal clinics. This present laser has had steady improvements made to its design over the years. There is, however, much debate on what professional should be operating this machine. There are numerous laser hair removal training courses offered at a variety of schools around the country. But, do these equate to proper training?

Throughout the years, this has become an area of concern. Many physicians feel that laser equipment is safest when operated by a medical professional. There are thoughts that a laser hair removal training class doesn't adequately address medical emergencies. It is felt that anyone can purchase a laser machine and set up shop with very little training.

On the other hand, laser hair removal training institutes feel they are preparing technicians for all unseen emergencies and explain the proper use of a laser machine. Many courses offered are highly intense, going through the risks, who is a good candidate for these procedures and making sure that the technician is properly trained.

What Should A Consumer Look For?

When looking into clinics that offer this service, consumers should be prepared to ask plenty of questions. Discuss the training that was received by the laser technician. Where did they receive their laser hair removal training? Find out if there is a Doctor on staff in case of emergencies. Discover if the technician is at all supervised during the procedure.

The debate on who is efficiently trained to use a laser will, no doubt continue for years to come. As will the popularity of the laser and laser hair removal training classes. If you're considering this procedure, make sure to check on the states laws and discover if the clinic is following those rules. Be a smart shopper when determining the best location for this procedure.
