Vitamin D deficiency disease
One of the most essential elements to our body nutrition is Vitamin D. Other names of Vitamin D are D3, sunlight vitamin and NR1|1 antibody. The nutrient is produced naturally in our body when exposed to sunlight. It is also substance required in our body in small but regular amounts through a regular diet. The NR1|1 antibody is also used to prevent some types of cancers and to strengthen the immune system and the bones of our body by increasing the calcium absorption in our body. The rich sources of Vitamin D are all the animal products and salt water fishes where as the poor but effective sources are eggs, beef, butter, vegetable oil and fruits. The absence of this nutrient could cause various types of disease in our body.
Disease caused due to Vitamin D deficiency: -
Lack of vitamin D causes muscular pain, stunted growth, muscle twitching and restlessness. The other dreadful diseases caused due to lack of intake of vitamin D are:
1) Rickets: - Vitamin D is essential in maintaining the levels of phosphorous and calcium which are found in the blood stream. Lack of vitamin D decreases the levels of phosphorous and calcium causing rickets. It is often found in children and is often characterized by the under development of bones, which do not harden. This also results into mild to severe skeletal deformities.
2) In adults lack of Vitamin D causes osteomalacia and osteoporosis.
3) The skin, liver and kidneys lose their capacity to synthesize and activate vitamin D with advancing age.
4) Disorders like bloating, loss of appetite and weight loss are also observed.
5) Forehead of a person enlarges due to lack of Vitamin D.
6) Restlessness, frequent fractures and irritability is also observed.
7) Some types of cancers like breast cancer and colon cancer are also caused due to lack of Vitamin D.
Thus, adequate amount of Vitamin D is essential as to prevent causing of any such forms of disease or disorders. Cofactor vitamins and minerals are vital for good health because they ensure that enzymes and enzyme-mediated conversions function properly in the body. These cofactors can be obtained from a sufficiently varied diet. It is strongly recommended that people should try all essential vitamins and minerals from their diet. Thus, eat enough fruit, vegetables, beans, pulses, meat and so on to ensure that the body is not deficient in any vitamins or minerals.
